Not every tree has the same needs. Depending on the species, age, condition, and location of the tree, we may recommend one or more of the following pruning services.
Deadwooding
Removing dead, dying, and broken branches before they come down on their own schedule. Beyond the obvious safety reason, it also stops decay and pests from migrating out of the dead wood and into the healthy parts of the tree.
Crown Cleaning
We work through the full canopy removing diseased wood, weak branch attachments, crossing limbs, and stubs from past damage or improper cuts — the issues that quietly compound until the tree starts losing limbs. The result is a cleaner, safer canopy with less material that could fail or invite decay.
Crown Raising
Lifting the bottom of the canopy by removing or shortening low branches. It clears sidewalks, driveways, vehicles, and lines of sight from the road. On younger trees, it sets the height of the canopy for the rest of the tree's life, so it's worth getting right the first time.
Crown Reduction
Carefully shortening a tree's overall height or spread when it has outgrown its space. We make reduction cuts back to lateral branches that can take over as the new leader — never flat-top stubs. Done correctly, the tree keeps its natural form and continues to grow; done wrong (i.e., topping), it spends the next decade trying to recover.
Crown Shaping
Restoring or refining a tree's natural form, especially after storm damage, deer browse, or years without attention. The goal is a tree that looks like itself — not one that's been cut to fit a hedge trimmer's idea of symmetry.
Canopy/Crown Thinning
Selectively removing branches inside the canopy to improve airflow and light penetration without changing the tree's overall size. This is often recommended for dense maples and oaks where reducing canopy density and branch weight is a primary goal.
Structural Pruning
Structural pruning is used to develop strong branch architecture and reduce the likelihood of future failures. Many of the defects that lead to major limb or trunk failures can be identified long before they become a safety concern, making early intervention one of the most effective forms of preventive tree care.
Hazard Pruning
Targeted removal of specific branches that pose a risk to people, pets, vehicles, or structures. Often a better answer than removal when the tree is otherwise healthy, allowing you to address the actual problem without losing the whole tree.
Vista Pruning
Selective pruning to open up a view, like a lake, river, wooded ridge, or downtown skyline, without sacrificing the health or shape of the trees in the way.

Pruning a tree well takes more than showing up with equipment. Here's how the process works from first call to final cleanup:

Step 02
Written Proposal
You'll receive a written proposal outlining the recommended work — and if pruning isn't the right call for a particular tree, we'll tell you.
